Better access to data held by government (Auckland workshop)

The following was recorded during the Auckland workshop at a table discussing open data:

- Centralised body for searchable data

- Set "interoperability standards" - not one system - federated state

- Maintain privacy at all costs - agreement needs to be set around what 'personal' data can be shared and how

- Single portal of access for information

- Linking data not main focus (integration)

Why the contribution is important

A single source of data

Additionally I would suggest: 1) promote data.govt.nz and its alignment with the NZ Data and Information Management Principles; 2) create centralized open data portals at local level (Spain is an excellent model for this - happy to provide more info as requested)
