Privacy policy

This Dialogue is being hosted by Engage2, as a part of our role, commissioned by the State Services Commission (SSC), to help raise awareness about the Open Government Partnership, and inviting New Zealanders to participate in the development of the National Action Plan.

The Dialogue will take place from 11 August 2016 to 24 August 2016.

Collection, storage and use

Throughout the Dialogue, Engage2 will require that participants register with the site. Participants will be required to provide their name, postcode, and a username and email address. The username will be made public along with the comments made in the Dialogue. Please consider this when choosing a username, and note that the username will fall under the terms of our moderation policy. Your name, email and postcode will not be made public on the site.

Participants are reminded that the Dialogue is a public forum. Participants should therefore not post personally identifiable information such as telephone numbers in idea/action suggestions or comments on this website.

Traffic data is collected anonymously for the purposes of analysing visitor usage patterns; however, none of this data can be associated with your individual user identity within the dialogue.

At the end of the Dialogue, Engage2 would like to extract the contributions you make, and the contact details you used to register, and share each of these separately with SSC. This is so SSC can keep those interested up to date and engage with them on an ongoing basis to help deliver and evaluate actions / progress. SSC may then also choose to share your contributions with other lead agencies responsible for the final actions / commitments in the National Action Plan. Where information is shared with the lead agencies, contributions will be kept separate from contact details. Engage2 will only share your contact details if you ticked the consent box when registering on the site. We will not provide participants’ details to the agencies where a participant does not want us to.

Records and disclosure

Where that information is passed on to the SSC and other lead agencies, your contact details and contributions to the site may constitute public records and be retained to the extent required by the Public Records Act 2005. SSC may also be required to disclose those materials under the Official Information Act 1982 or to a Parliamentary Select Committee or Parliament in response to a Parliamentary Question.

Rights of access and correction

Under the Privacy Act 1993, you will have the right to access and to request correction of any of your personal information that is provided to SSC in connection with your use of this site. If you would like to see or change your personal information SSC has stored, or if you have any concerns regarding your privacy, please contact us at the address below.
