Compliance must be compulsory for all infringements

It should be made mandatory that all organisations that issue infringement notices must give a minimum 1 month compliance period.

This period is to enable the recipient to address any issue for which the infringement had been received.

The infringement notice must clearly state that compliance can be achieved and how it can be achieved.

Why the contribution is important

Local government is using infringements as a revenue gathering scheme. This is unacceptable.

Ashburton District Council appear to be leading the way in this and should be used as a yard stick for other councils.

Wellington City Council are unflinching in their money grabbing and this needs to stop.
